Please take the time to forward your own vendor related information so that I can include it on this page. Thanks. cjtaylor@cs

Overview

Sure, it's the sponsor's money, but the farther you stretch it, the more goodies you can buy. This web page is an attempt to pool the collective purchasing savy of the VASC community. Hopefully it will become a resevoir of VASC consumer knowledge where the first time buyer can go and quickly locate the top product vendors.

This isn't the only CMU page on Vision Vendors. There is a Computer Vision Hardware page written by VASC's Mark Maimone. He's included links which are not listed here, so if you're not satisfied with these listings, try his page.

There is also a Camera and Lens Folder on CMU's campus which has spec sheets for (surprisingly) cameras and lenses.

Cameras

Camera Systems

  • Canon - Ricky Houghton's group have a Canon VCC1 camera that allows you to control the zoom, pan, tilt, backlighting, white balancing and shutter speed from an RS-232 port. Cost: $2000. He has a socket based server control package written for the camera. Ricky's volunteered to email you the specs if you're interested. (houghton@WHIRL.SPEECH.CS.CMU.EDU)
  • Parker Vision - Ricky's also looking at a CameraMan system from Parker Vision. This camera has twice the speed of the Canon VCC1 and a much larger pan/tilt range. However, the unit appears to be bigger and is more expensive (~$2600). There is no development software available yet. You can buy this system through RPC Video, our local distributor.

  • Vision Product Resellers

The people on this list are vision resellers. Apparently, they used Lycos or some other web crawler to locate my page (among others). They requested that their company be listed here. I've had no dealings with them myself.
  • Vision1 - These guys have a web page out there which you can access which is "dedicated to provide a complete vision and imaging equipment and manufacturer resource to companies and individuals with vision product needs." They appear to want to sell you a packaged system, and/or provide you with technical support. They have a fairly extensive listing of individual products.
  • OMNIX - "OMNIX specializes in providing the scientific and industrial community with innovative imaging solutions." They carry SBUS, PCI, ISA, VME, VESA and JPEG Frame Grabbers; PCI, VME Real-Time Image Processors; Industrial CCD Cameras and JVC Professional Video equipment. They also perform custom integration and supply camera lenes and optical components. Doug Johnson from Sales sent me Email: djohnson@omnix.win.net
  • Tectivity - These guys contacted Mark Maimone. I piped their email advertisement to a file.
