What is VASC? The Vision & Autonomous Systems Center (VASC) is a large research group within the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. VASC personnel consists of over 100 faculty, students, staff and visitors, working in the areas of computer vision, autonomous navigation, virtual reality, intelligent manipulation, space robotics, and related fields.

Why a retreat? From time to time, VASC members get together in a retreat, which provides a forum for discussion of current research ideas and future technological breakthroughs. The retreat serves also as a social event, bringing all the members to a common location to discuss common interests.

VASC members are encouraged to join the retreat. The retreat is usually organized around a number of project talks and technical tutorials; there is also a section for posters that illustrate various projects at VASC and a talk by a guest speaker.

If you have any suggestions, comments and/or concerns regarding this retreat, please e-mail us at vasc-retreat+@cs.cmu.edu
