Title: Toward interactive X-ray/CT registration

Robotic technology and Computer Assistance are having a big impact on
many surgical procedures, from 3D conformal radiotherapy to joint
replacement.  In the design of these computer assisted procedures,
registration of the patient to the operating room has consistently
been a challenging problem.

Over the past two years, We have been developing a system which
addresses this problem through registration of 2D X-ray images to 3D
CT data acquired pre-operatively.

I will present some results from this 2D/3D registration project,
describe some of the remaining challenges, and discuss some lessons
learned in the course of the research.
