VASC Seminar Announcement ========================= Date: Monday, 8/14/00 Time: 3:45-4:40 Place: NSH 3002 Speaker: Katsu Ikeuchi, University of Tokyo Title: How to make a digital great Buddha? We have been developing modeling-from-reality (MFR) techniques which generate geometric, photometric and environmental models for virtual reality through observation of real objects/scenes. By using these MRF component techniques, we have completed a digital Kamakura great buddha. I will explain these component techniques as well as the Kamakura Great Buddha project. I will also describe how the Japanese built the great Buddha in the 13th century.
