VASC Seminar Announcement ========================= Date: TODAY Time: 3:30-4:40 Place: NSH 1507 Title: Activities of the LASMEA Laboratory and description of new road following approach Speaker: Romuald Aufrere Abstract: First, this seminar presents the activities of the LASMEA laboratory. This french laboratory is composed of 2 sub_groups. The first (MATELEC) works on the materials for Electronic, and Electromagnetism. The second (GRAVIR) works on Automatic, Vision and Robotic. This presentation describes as well a method designed to detect and track roadsides starting from images provided by an on-board monocular monochromic camera. The method is based on three modules. (1) detection of the roadsides in the image by a model driven algorithm. It uses a statistical model of the lane sides which manages the occlusions or imperfections of the road marking. This model is initialized by an off-line training step. (2) localization of the vehicle on its circulation lane. (3) tracking to define a new search space of road edges for the next image. Several results obtained on marked and not marked road images are presented.
