VASC Seminar Announcement ========================= Date: Friday April 19th Time: 2:00pm Location: NSH A1507 Speaker: Adrian Broadhurst Affiliation: University of Cambridge Web: http://svr-www.eng.cam.ac.uk/~aeb29 Title: A Variable Threshold Framework For Space Carving Abstract: This talk presents a new technique for reconstructing the three-dimensional shape of an object (or scene) viewed by several cameras. The scene is represented using an array of small voxels (volume elements) and the objective is to determine which voxels are solid and which are empty. The Space Carving framework (Kutulakos Seitz) is extended, by altering the definition of the consistency function, to included a noise threshold parameter. This new definition leads to a new compact representation of ALL possible photohulls generated by varying the threshold parameter. A new algorithm is presented that is able to solve for all photohulls simultaneously, thus elliminating the need to run the Space Carving algorithm many times whilst optimising the noise threshold parameter.
