VASC Seminar Announcement ========================= Date: Monday, 02/04/2002 Time: 3:30-4:40 Place: NSH 1507 Title: Active Tracking of Active People Speaker: Robert Collins Abstract: I will present current work on a project called Next Generation Internet (NGI), which combines elements of both VSAM and EyeVision. The goal is acquire multiple views of a person who is energetically moving through the environment. This is achieved through real-time person tracking using multiple sensors with active pan/tilt and zoom/focus control. Tracking a non-rigid moving person from a moving sensor is achieved using the mean-shift algorithm for tracking the mode of a distribution. We currently use the normalized color distribution of the person blob, but we will talk a little about how other segmentation cues such as motion, texture, predicted location, and shape could also be integrated into this framework.
